Our Struggles Of Settling Down In Colombia

The Struggles We Had To Settle Down

As always we want to paint the whole picture of our experiences. In a recent video, we talked about our journey, how we left Switzerland and what we did before we decided to settle down in Medellin.

Settling down is a whole other story! It is not as easy as we thought at the beginning. Knowing in which city you want to live is great, but there’s way more work to do than just that.

What Have Been Our Biggest Struggles?

  • Not being able to socialize because research consumed all of our time.
  • Speaking the language but not sufficient to call house/apartment owners to negotiate.
  • Not knowing in what area of the city we want to live in.
  • Nobody to help us with the whole situation. There was not a single company or person that could help us with everything we needed.

It was a hassle to settle down in Colombia but it was more than worth it! That’s why we want to help other people to understand the problem we personally had when relocating to Medellin. Everything was doable, but it was time-consuming and frustrating at times.

Luckily we understood that we are not the only ones having those issues. That’s exactly why we started How To Expat in the first place.

Don’t hesitate to contact us anytime if you need help on your journey to become an Expat. We are more than happy to help fellow Expats making their journey as hassle-free as possible.
