Are You Avoiding Expats?
Have you noticed, that most gringos/expats don’t like to be around each other? In this video, I’ll try to explain why I personally think foreigners avoid other foreigners.
We had a lot of clients since we started our business How To Expat. And we noticed that almost all of them mentioned wanting to be far from other expats. They usually explain that they rather want to make local friends instead of meeting foreigners.
But why?
One of my theories is, that people want to be as local as possible. They want to be part of the community because this is the only way one can be a “real” expat.
Foreigners have a bad image in some countries and therefore they want to avoid each other to also avoid being seen as one of those bad behaving foreigners.
